Information and registration

The research projects that receive financial support need to be genuine and will have to contribute to the development of the Region. Therefore, only projects with a clear commitment towards these aims will be taken into account.

Two categories of projects, related to different researchers profiles, are eligible :

Category 1 - This formula is aimed at researchers of Belgian or other origin, on a “post-doctoral” stay abroad for at least 2 years. With this programme, the Brussels Region wishes to host amongst others Belgian post-doctoral researchers who wish to return to “establish” themselves in Brussels. The formula lasts for a period of three years and is renewable for another two years. The research project will have to start between 1st of October 2010 and 1st of January 2011.

Category 2 - Short-term visits for researchers and post-doctoral researchers of Belgian as well as other origins, established abroad, and holder of a PhD. The stay in Brussels may have a duration between 3 and 12 months.

Prof. Dr Ir Abdellah Touhafi (Erasmushogeschool Brussel) zal een presentatie geven van het EUTERPE softwarepakket dat uw computer een professionele geluidsniveaumeter maakt. Naast een aanzienlijk prijsvoordeel (tov. traditionele geluidsniveaumeters) biedt EUTERPE een flexibel timersysteem, dat toelaat metingen uit te voeren op specifieke tijdstippen (bv tijdens kantooruren, op weekdagen enz...).

Ook bestaat de mogelijkheid om data over te nemen van bv. een weerstation. Zo kan de gebruiker tijdens de metingen rekening houden met oa. windrichting en windkracht om tot meer correcte resultaten te komen. Door zijn flexibiliteit wordt Euterpe nu ook ingezet in netwerkopstellingen waarbij de data realtime beschikbaar zijn via het web.

He is Scientific Director of the School of Higher Education in Radiation Protection at the University of Bologna. Has been on the Professional Engineer Board of the County of Bologna since 1982. Cisco® Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Het CCNA certificaat is in veel bedrijven een voorwaarde om professionele kennis over computernetwerken, routering en switching te bewijzen. Het postgraduaat CCNA biedt de noodzakelijke opleiding aan om uiteindelijk dit certificaat te behalen. De opleiding spitst zich toe op praktijkkennis en zal dan ook voornamelijk plaatsvinden in een volledig uitgerust Cisco labo met voldoende apparatuur om elke cursist de kans te geven de nodige praktische vaardigheden te ontwikkelen.

Multimedia

In bedrijven groeit de vraag naar een efficiënte en creatieve benadering van nieuwe media- en communicatietechnologieën, vaak in combinatie met een technische achtergrond. Deze opleiding reikt de cursisten de nodige kennis en ervaring aan zodat zij als ontwerper van audiovisueel materiaal, ook voor het web, kunnen tewerkgesteld worden. Concreet worden de tools Cinema 4D®, Adobe® Flash® CS3, Final Cut Studio® 2, Photoshop® CS3 en Pro Tools® uitgediept. Zowel beeld, geluid als montage komen hier dus aan bod. De opleiding wordt volledig gegeven in een Apple® iMac® omgeving.

SAP

Het softwarehuis SAP® is de absolute marktleider in de wereld van ERP-systemen (Enterprise Resources Planning), die worden gebruikt om bedrijfsprocessen te automatiseren. Op de arbeidsmarkt is er dan ook een zeer grote vraag naar experts die mySAP ERP®-systemen kunnen implementeren, integreren in bestaande applicaties en afstemmen op de behoeften van gebruikers. Tijdens het postgraduaat SAP® vergaar je de noodzakelijke functionele kennis over moderne bedrijfsprocessen en focus je je op de praktijk: je leert programmeren in het mySAP ERP-systeem met de ABAP-programmeertaal (Advanced Business Application Programming)

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a new European exchange programme aimed at helping new entrepreneurs to acquire relevant skills for managing an SME by spending time working in another EU country with an experienced entrepreneur.

This EU programme

• Offers new entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn from an experienced entrepreneur who is running a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) in another EU country ;
• Enables the exchange of experience between new and experienced entrepreneurs ;
• Facilitates access to new markets and the search for potential business partners ;
• Enhances networking between business people and SMEs ;
• Allows experienced entrepreneurs to develop new commercial relations and find out more about opportunities in another EU country.

Who can participate ?

• New entrepreneurs are entrepreneurs who are firmly planning to set up their own business or have already started their own business within the last three years.
• Experienced entrepreneurs should own or manage an SME in the EU.

• Technology partner for development of PCR kits applied to allergens detection. - Since several years, the Food Technology Unit (University College Lucia de Brouckère – Institut Meurice) has developed a comprehensive and sensitive set of allergens and bacteria detection methods using Real-Time - Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA) tests. The Unit is willing to partnership with industry and private/public research centres, in order to improve existing PCR extraction kits and/or develop new ones.

A comprehensive set of videomodels will be showed on the InduTec booth during the Universities Forum (14 November). The videomodel tool was developed in order to provide 3D visualisations of electrical and electronical circuits by means of simple physical components. The circuits are naturally represented in 2D, the third dimension representing the electrical tension. The electrical current is symbolized by a cone. The size of cone closely changes with the current intensity.

The uniqueness of the tool lies in the usage of geometrical components to represent physical size. The tool allows the simultaneous visualisation of multiple tensions and currents inside the circuits. Since the brain can very quickly analyse 3D visuals, the students' learning curve is reduced and the videomodels offer a clear pedagogical advantage.
